CONNECTION & MOUNTING

Installation

Installation of lightning protection with one guide wire or without a guide wire

Use the enclosed wire joints to connect the lightning protection to the existing boundary wire and any guide wire. Use ring wire lugs for connecting yellow/green and unused wires to grounding plate. An included contact kit contains what is needed to fit most mowers. The contacts are pressed with a basic wire lug tool and then shrunk by heating to become completely sealed.

Connection of lightning protection to charging station with two guide wires

Use the enclosed wire joints to connect the lightning protection to the existing boundary wire and any guide wire. Use ring wire lugs for connecting yellow/green and unused wires to grounding plate. An included contact kit contains what is needed to fit most mowers. The contacts are pressed with a basic wire lug tool and then shrunk by heating to become completely sealed.

Connection of lightning protection to charging station with three guide wires

Use wire joints to connect the lightning protection to the existing wire and any guide wire. Use ring wire lugs for connecting yellow green and unused wires to grounding plate. An included contact kit contains what is needed to fit most mowers. The contacts are pressed with a simple wire lug tool and then shrunk by heating to become completely sealed.

MOUNTING

The lightning protection is mounted on a plate that acts as a ground plate. The section below ground should be at least 100 x 200 mm. The bigger the better. The more humid the soil, the better the lightning is guided down into the ground. This plate gives the lightning a shortcut to ground.

If you do not help the lightning to find a controlled path to ground, it will take the shortest and easiest route to the ground, which often can be from the underside of the charging station or via the mains transformer. If the lightning takes these routes it usually means an expensive repair.

Installing the lightning protection behind the charging station is usually the best solution. Keep boundary wires and the wires that leads to the charging station from the lightning protection separated for best protection.
